John Wick (1/15/24)

 John Wick

I liked this movie a lot. It meets my criteria. This movie was probably one of my top 3 spy-assassin movies. Not top 3 in my all time movies. I think that out of the four John Wick movies, this one is by far the best for the reason that it is the only one that has semi-realistic fight scenes. The next three go way unrealistic especially in 3 and 4. In 3 and 4 John is fighting dozens of men with practically bulletproof suits with only a pistol until he finally gets a shotgun with penetrating bullets. Another reason why I like this one is that there is a massive need for revenge which really fuels the aggression and makes the cold blooded kills even sicker. The other movies don't seem to be fueled by motive and rather John is just trying to survive and fight for his life. I think that the fight scenes are very well made too. The house invasion scene towards the beginning of the movie was really well made. My favorite scene in this movie was the scene where Iosef tells Viggo that he killed a mans dog and stole his car and then Viggo tells him who John is calling him "Babayaga" which means boogeyman. I do think that one thing was done very very well in these movies. In the first movie, John's dog is killed and it foreshadows to a decision he makes in the fourth film where he pauses his fight with his enemy to shoot another enemy that was going to kill his current enemies dog. I would recommend watching this movie for sure.

  1. I'm about to rewatch this movie. I didn't like it the first time, but I really like the sequels. We'll see if I have a different perspective on the film.
