Prisoners (2/5/24)

Image
Prisoners     I will say I loved this movie but there were some things that I would like to change. I enjoyed this movie because it was similar to the film Taken  with less violence and action. The basic plot is two little girls are taken and a father is on a mission to find and save them. I think that this movie portrayed human emotions and stress very well. In the film, we see Keller (the father of one of the girls) go to extreme measures to get answers from a suspected kidnapper. He locks him up, beats him, and later goes to using hot and cold water. He nearly kills him. This shows how the father is more locked up in prison than the two young girls. He is psychologically and emotionally trapped and can not escape it.     I think that this movie played out rather slow which was unfortunate and it was 2.5 hours. It is hard to focus when they are that long and slow.     My absolute favorite part of the film was the ending. I do not like cliffhangers where action is happening or the m

The Boy and the Heron (1/29/24)

The Boy and the Heron     I am going to say that this movie was okay. I am a little bit biased because I do not like animated films. First of all, this movie does not meet my criteria for movies I like. I tend to like the super high actions films with lots of violence. I went into this movie thinking it was going to hate it but it actually wasn't horrible. I think that the plot was a little bit interesting but it seemed like a copy of the Star Wars movie Revenge of the Sith . The plot of this movie is a boy named Mahito loses his mother in a fire and is moved to a new home where he is taken care of by new parents. During this, a Heron tells him his mother is still alive and he can save her. This kind of reflects Revenge of the Sith  since Palpatine (Heron) convinces Anakin (Mahito) that he can save Padme (his mother) by following his orders.     This movie seems more like a tragic event turned into an epic story. The film deals with elements of loss and grief which happen to some

Revenge of the Sith (1/22/24)

Revenge of the Sith Revenge of the Sith is often called the greatest of the Star Wars movies and I agree. I first watched this movie when I was around twelve and I loved it because of the duels and constant action. I have watched this movie several times and every time I watch it again as I get older and more knowledgeable, I get a deeper understanding of the plot, politics, and deep emotions that are in this movie. When you watch this movie, you can see how many themes and ideas are similar to today. Betrayal and corruption are big themes in this movie. This movie can also resemble life for some people. Losing loved ones, being betrayed by trusted peers, and manipulation by mentors are common in this film and it shows how these things can destroy someone's life. Anakin's corruption by Chancellor Palpatine is a great example of this. Due to Palpatine corrupting Anakin, he caused Obi Wan to lose his apprentice who he loved like a brother (Anakin), and many good friends (Jedi O

John Wick (1/15/24)

Image
John Wick I liked this movie a lot. It meets my criteria. This movie was probably one of my top 3 spy-assassin movies. Not top 3 in my all time movies. I think that out of the four John Wick movies, this one is by far the best for the reason that it is the only one that has semi-realistic fight scenes. The next three go way unrealistic especially in 3 and 4. In 3 and 4 John is fighting dozens of men with practically bulletproof suits with only a pistol until he finally gets a shotgun with penetrating bullets. Another reason why I like this one is that there is a massive need for revenge which really fuels the aggression and makes the cold blooded kills even sicker. The other movies don't seem to be fueled by motive and rather John is just trying to survive and fight for his life. I think that the fight scenes are very well made too. The house invasion scene towards the beginning of the movie was really well made. My favorite scene in this movie was the scene where Iosef tells Vig

Fast and Furious: Tokyo Drift (1/8/24)

Image
Tokyo Drift     I have always been a fan of the Fast and Furious franchise except for this movie. The first time I watched this movie I rated it below a three. However, recently I have gotten into the JDM cars (Japanese domestic market) and decided to rewatch it. After rewatching it, I realized how great this movie actually is in several different areas. It shows some positive messages like growth, determination, and trust while also exploring the concept on networking. Another big thing about this movie is that it's the only movie in the Fast and Furious franchise that is almost completely about cars. After Fast and Furious 4, all the movies become ridiculous. Things like heisting a vault from a drug kingpin or taking a car into space is stupid. After rewatching, I would bump this movie up into my top five for sure.

Taken (1/2)

Image
Taken This movie was about a girl and her friend who go to Paris and are kidnapped and put into to a sex trafficking ring. I thought this movie was well made and very suspenseful. The movie deals with real life issues and the development of the movie was smooth and not dragged out like some other movies. I thought the actions scenes and detective work were semi-realistic unlike other sequences like the John Wick movies, especially 3 and 4. I would rate this movie in my top 5 for sure.
