Prisoners (2/5/24)
Prisoners
I will say I loved this movie but there were some things that I would like to change. I enjoyed this movie because it was similar to the film Taken with less violence and action. The basic plot is two little girls are taken and a father is on a mission to find and save them. I think that this movie portrayed human emotions and stress very well. In the film, we see Keller (the father of one of the girls) go to extreme measures to get answers from a suspected kidnapper. He locks him up, beats him, and later goes to using hot and cold water. He nearly kills him. This shows how the father is more locked up in prison than the two young girls. He is psychologically and emotionally trapped and can not escape it.
I think that this movie played out rather slow which was unfortunate and it was 2.5 hours. It is hard to focus when they are that long and slow.
My absolute favorite part of the film was the ending. I do not like cliffhangers where action is happening or the main characters find out something urgent or important or there is an action scene (Fast and Furious X is an example). However, this cliffhanger ends with the detective hearing faint whistles several times. The third whistle, he starts thinking he missed something and it's not just a random sound. The movie then ends. This is AMAZING. Cliffhangers where there is no action allow you to decide how the story ends. Me personally, I can see the detective leaving and the Keller having another movie where he tries to escape and then he finds and underground passage, uncovering many secrets. I would recommend this movie 100%. I rate it a 9.5/10 since it was slow.
Bud! Slow shouldn't be a deal breaker.
