Knives Out (3/4/24)

Image
Knives Out     This movie was one of the best murder mystery movies but there were some things that held it back. One thing that I really liked about this movie is how analytical it was. Several instances, the detective it making a lot of hypothetical accusations and you don't even think about these things when watching the movie. Another thing that I liked is how it was different from most murder mysteries. Many of these movies have several deaths and the killer is rampaging. This movie has one kill and then the rest is detective work which adds to the movie.     Some things hold the movie back from being insane. The first is how we already know who the killer is. We know the whole entire story already but then we have to watch the detective try to uncover the truth. It is not as fun for the viewers to watch. I could compare this to watching a video that is five minutes of yapping with three seconds of information. Another thing I didn't like is a lot of this...

Tag (2/26/24)

Image
Tag      This movie was awesome. The movie was also based off a true story about a friend group who played a game of tag for 20+ years. The movie was enjoyable to watch since it was not slow. This show was the more entertaining and cinematic version of the tv show ultimate tag.  The ending revealing that Hoagie was going to die soon and that this was the last year to try and tag Jerry for the first time in 30 years made the whole movie have a deeper meaning. This movie is a strong reminder that nothing lasts forever and that we should cherish our friendships and memories. This movie makes me wish I had a friend group like this but it will probably never happen unless I meet some true characters in college. This movie was good and I would recommend it to some people. This movie was not a super action filled movie. It was more of a comedy movie.

The Blind Side (2/19/24)

The Blind Side      This movie was AMAZING! The movie is based on a true story. It is about a boy who was poor and got adopted by a wealthy family and went on to play in the NFL.         This movie was very sad but the emotions and the constant up and downs made this movie great. I have watched this several times already and I love the storyline and every time I watch it, I make more connections and understand the movie more. I think it is truly amazing what hard work can achieve. Homeless kid to professional football player is amazing. I also think that the casting was fabulous for this movie. I looked up some pictures of the real life people and when I say the casting was on point, I mean it was on point. The mother in the movie looks almost identical to the real person.     I think this is one of the best sports movies ever created. It will not top Miracle but it is definitely top 5 sports movies in my opinion. I would highly recomm...

American Assassin (2/12/24)

Image
American Assassin     This movie was very good. The movie meets my criteria of what I liked to watch. The movie starts out with a shooting by terrorists on a beach. This is a really well made scene because it felt realistic. There are several terrorists with guns shooting people while they are running away. During camera shooting, we see bodies just falling constantly. This scene was down low and in the POV of the victims which added to the intensity of the scene. In this scene, Mitch was looking frantically for his girlfriend when we see her get shot and killed. This drives the plot for the rest of the movie.     After Mitch's girlfriend is killed, he seeks revenge like all main characters in these movies do. This movie portrays human emotions very well and how we deal with grief. We see mitch throwing knives at a picture of the terrorist leader and shooting guns at targets. He also is doing MMA combat. The amount of time and dedication he puts to training so he can...

Prisoners (2/5/24)

Image
Prisoners     I will say I loved this movie but there were some things that I would like to change. I enjoyed this movie because it was similar to the film Taken  with less violence and action. The basic plot is two little girls are taken and a father is on a mission to find and save them. I think that this movie portrayed human emotions and stress very well. In the film, we see Keller (the father of one of the girls) go to extreme measures to get answers from a suspected kidnapper. He locks him up, beats him, and later goes to using hot and cold water. He nearly kills him. This shows how the father is more locked up in prison than the two young girls. He is psychologically and emotionally trapped and can not escape it.     I think that this movie played out rather slow which was unfortunate and it was 2.5 hours. It is hard to focus when they are that long and slow.     My absolute favorite part of the film was the ending. I do not like cliffhan...

The Boy and the Heron (1/29/24)

Image
The Boy and the Heron     I am going to say that this movie was okay. I am a little bit biased because I do not like animated films. First of all, this movie does not meet my criteria for movies I like. I tend to like the super high actions films with lots of violence. I went into this movie thinking it was going to hate it but it actually wasn't horrible. I think that the plot was a little bit interesting but it seemed like a copy of the Star Wars movie Revenge of the Sith . The plot of this movie is a boy named Mahito loses his mother in a fire and is moved to a new home where he is taken care of by new parents. During this, a Heron tells him his mother is still alive and he can save her. This kind of reflects Revenge of the Sith  since Palpatine (Heron) convinces Anakin (Mahito) that he can save Padme (his mother) by following his orders.     This movie seems more like a tragic event turned into an epic story. The film deals with elements of loss and g...

Revenge of the Sith (1/22/24)

Image
Revenge of the Sith Revenge of the Sith is often called the greatest of the Star Wars movies and I agree. I first watched this movie when I was around twelve and I loved it because of the duels and constant action. I have watched this movie several times and every time I watch it again as I get older and more knowledgeable, I get a deeper understanding of the plot, politics, and deep emotions that are in this movie. When you watch this movie, you can see how many themes and ideas are similar to today. Betrayal and corruption are big themes in this movie. This movie can also resemble life for some people. Losing loved ones, being betrayed by trusted peers, and manipulation by mentors are common in this film and it shows how these things can destroy someone's life. Anakin's corruption by Chancellor Palpatine is a great example of this. Due to Palpatine corrupting Anakin, he caused Obi Wan to lose his apprentice who he loved like a brother (Anakin), and many good friends (Jedi O...
